Ghanaian Sentenced to 10 Years in Dubai for Carrying Weed.

Ghana’s Consulate General in Dubai has announced on Wednesday that At least five Ghanaians have been arrested at the Dubai International Airport in the UAE over suspected case of marijuana (weed) trafficking.

The Consulate General of Ghana in Dubai wishes to announce for the information of all Ghanaians in the UAE that it has, in recent times received information about some arrests of persons at the Dubai International Airport trying to traffic marijuana (weed) into the UAE.

“It may interest you to know that between January and March 2021, five people have been arrested at the Dubai Airport in connection with this matter,” the statement said.

It may also interest you to know that currently all the five people are in police detention. One of them has since been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment, probably for carrying weed he was not aware of and weed that someone else would have benefited from.

The Consulate therefore advised Ghanaians resident in the UAE to inform relatives coming over to Dubai never to take any parcels from agents or any other person in Ghana “except if they can inspect and ascertain the true content of the message/parcel.
